Music Ministry at FPC: A Mutual Endeavor

We ring, we sing, we pray and praise - together.

Music is one of the primary ways we express our faith. Our multiple choir program affords adults and children opportunities to develop and share their faith through music. Our worship services include a variety of music ranging from traditional to contemporary.

Presently, we support an adult choir, adult handbell ensemble, two children’s choirs, a young children’s music class supplement to Sunday School, and our First Players Band progam.

We’ve been known to use a pickup ensemble of volunteer musicians in worship, instrumental and vocal soloists are frequently featured, and we enjoy supporting community ensembles such as the Rochester Flute Choir, Rochester Area Handbells, and others.

Our worship makes frequent use of organ, piano, and music generally comes from Glory to God: The Presbyterian Hymnal (2013). The congregation of First Presbyterian Church is accustomed to participatory liturgical responses both spoken and sung. We love to sing, and we heartily support musical offerings of most every kind in myriad ways in and out of worship services.
