Sunday Service FAQs

WHERE DO I PARK?

We have parking available in the church lot off 6th Avenue SW. The adjoining Mayo lot (upper parking lot) is also available for Sunday use. We have barrier free access to the Sanctuary and elevators that service all areas of the church. Arriving for a worship service 15 minutes early is generally sufficient, except on Christmas Eve and Easter.

WHERE SHOULD I GO?

Enter through one of the four glass doors on the 6th Ave. side of the building.  The sanctuary is to the left of the entrance.  There are easy to follow signs for the other areas of the church.

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS FOR CHILDCARE?

We offer a staffed nursery program on Sunday mornings with child care specialists who have been background checked. As you enter the building from the 6th Avenue parking lot, go to your right and walk all the way down the hall, make another right and follow the hallway to find our nursery. Our child care workers will check you in. We have Greeters at the front door who would be happy to assist you.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

We run the gamut here at First Presbyterian, some dress casual and some prefer a jacket and tie. You would not be out of place with either choice. Come dressed as you feel comfortable.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING SERVICE?

We have a traditional style of worship, featuring classically oriented music. Theologically speaking, you will find some of our members to be on the conservative side, while others lean more to the progressive side of the spectrum. There is an opportunity provided to make prayer requests. We offer a Children’s Time for young people up through third grade to come forward for a children’s sermon. On communion Sundays, the congregation comes forward to receive the elements. Our communion is open to all who confess Jesus Christ as their Savior. The wine used in our sacrament is grape juice and do provide a gluten free option. We generally plan for worship to last 60 minutes, although on occasion we will go 5-10 minutes over an especially busy Sundays.

If you are visiting with us…

If you are visiting with us, please make sure to use a blue mug during Fellowship Hour so our members can have an opportunity to welcome you.
