Handbell/Handchime Choirs
First Presbyterian Church has four handbell choirs Alleluia Ringers, Nothing but Angels, Joyous Praise and Jubilate Deo. Each handbell choirs offers music throughout the year during worship.
Alleluia Ringers
Alleluia Ringers, led by Jennifer Taylor, meets each Wednesday from 4:15pm-5:00pm in the church sanctuary. Alleluia Ringers is open to any child in grades 2-5. The group rings on average once a month in worship. No prior experience is required.
Nothing But Angels
Nothing But Angels, NBA is led by Lee J. Afdahl. NBA meets Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm-7:30pm. This handbell group is open to any middle school student who wants to ring handbells. New ringers are welcome. The group rings regularly in worship and takes an annual tour with the Youth Choir to other parts of the country.
Joyous Praise
Joyous Praise is the handbell choir for high school students, grades 9-12 and is led by Lee J. Afdahl. Joyous Praise rehearses Wednesday evenings 7:30pm-8:30pm.This group rings as the others, about once a month in worship. The group also travels on tour each summer with NBA and the Youth Choir. This year’s group went to La Porte, IN and Chicago, IL. In 2006, the groups attended the AREA VII Festival in St. Cloud, MN.
Jubilate Deo
Jubilate Deo, also directed by Lee J. Afdahl, is First Presbyterian’s handbell choir for adults. The group rehearses on Thursday evenings at 6:15pm-7:15pm in the church sanctuary. New ringers are always welcome.
Small Ensemble
The church’s small ensemble of handbells is led by Carol McDonough. This handbell choir’s main purpose is to provide music as a service to the Rochester community.
