First Players Band

First Players is the instrumental program sponsored by First Presbyterian Church. The program features the 5th Grade and Concert Bands. The program is open to any student in the Rochester area.

5th Grade Band
The 5th grade band meets for small group lessons on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays before school. Each day has two sessions, 8:00am-8:25 or 8:25-8:50am. These small group lessons begin September 18th.
The 5th grade band also attends full band rehearsals from 8:00-8:45am starting October 12th.

Concert Band
Concert Band is made up of students in grades 6-12 and any student in the Rochester area is eligible to register. Concert Band rehearses Thursdays 3:00-4:30pm. All instrumentation is needed and encouraged. Some loaner instruments are available, if needed.

Concerts
First Players has two concerts scheduled for the upcoming year. The first concert is January 11, 2010 at 7pm. The spring concert is April 26, 2010, also at 7pm. Both concerts will feature performances by both bands.

Additional Performances
The First Players Concert Band performs additional concerts in the Rochester community. Those concerts have included performing at Charter House, Madonna Towers, IBM, Eagles Cancer Telethon, Rochester Honkers baseball games, Sportsathon, Hollywood Cinemagic movie theatre, Rochesterfest Parade and area elementary schools. Near the end of the year, the 5th Grade Band is invited to join the Concert Band for some fun concerts.
