Church FAQ

Do I have to be a church member to attend?
No, the call of God is to everyone and to all. There are no prior conditions

Do I have to be a member of this denomination to share in Communion?
In our tradition, all who trust in Jesus and have received Him in Baptism are invited to partake in the Lord’s Supper.  This includes children, and it is expected that their parents will have explained to them what they are doing.

What do you do in worship?
Our order of worship has four sections:

  1. Gathering – a musical prelude invites us to come together and begin to focus on worship. A Call to Worship (usually verses from the Bible) invites us in. We Confess our shortcomings before God and receive an Assurance that in Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
  2. The Word – We read sections of the Bible chosen for each Sunday. A message is shared with the children and a sermon is given by one of the pastors.
  3. Our Response – Having heard the good news of God in Jesus Christ we respond. We affirm our faith, we share some aspect of the work of the church in ministry and mission. We observe one of the sacraments of Baptism or The Lord’s Supper. We receive an offering,  giving of our time, talent or treasure to the work of the church.
  4. Sending – After a closing hymn we are sent back into the world to share good news and take the blessings of God with us on our daily walk.

Music The Psalms say to “Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord” – Hymns and songs, ancient and modern are a major part of each service of worship. Our choirs (children through adult) offer special anthems and the congregation sings a number of hymns, prayers and responses as the service progresses.

Is there a dress code?
Come as you are,  God is not at all concerned with your outward appearance but with your spiritual awareness. You will find here people dressed up, and people dressed casually, what ever is comfortable for them.  Just come!

Will I be made to feel conspicuous?
We hope not. We hope that our members and regular worshipers will be friendly and it is our wish that if you come as a guest someone will welcome you. We won’t stick a bright red ribbon on you or a name-tag, and if you do not wish to socialize we will freely let you depart in peace.

Who can answer my other questions?
One of the pastors, elders, or a member of the music staff will be more than happy to discuss our worship with you.
